WWAED Entrance Examination
The WWAED will be holding
entrance exams during April 2010. If you would like to join the
association then you need to arrange for an assessment and, if
successful, you can be on the next entrance cohort. The examination
is aimed at basic diagnosis and maintenance of the equine mouth.
The only recognised qualification for equine
dentists in the UK is the DEFRA/RCVA Approved Level 2 Exemption
examination. Therefore, we feel it is in the interest of all horse
owners to know that their dentist has been defined as competent at
the basic level of dentistry (Level 1), even if they have not yet
taken their Level 2 exam. We are the only association that takes
this position.

Essex on 24th November 2009.

WWAED Refresher Training Day
Saturday 10th January 2009
Melton Mowbray
All WWAED dentists should
endeavour to take part in a minimum of one Refresher Training Day
per annum.
The dentists will perform their
work on a number of horses and the results will be examined and
feedback will be provided.
It is very easy for any
individual to slide into bad habits without realising it and these
Refresher training days help to ensure that this does not happen
with WWAED dentists.
We will identify on the dentist
directory page which dentists have attended refresher training for
that calendar year.
A write up on the day will appear
on the website shortly.

WWAED AGM scheduled for Saturday 16th February 2008
29th
November 2007
The WWAED AGM took place as
scheduled. The attendance was good a number of key items were
discussed and agreed.
Among the items that were agreed
were:
-
Definition
of a New Joining Process for the WWAED.
The WWAED is continually striving to ensure that its members are
assessed and monitored on all aspects of their work. Given that the
WWAED is the only equine dentistry organisation that tests all of
its members for Level 1 capability (basic assessment and rasping of
teeth - the most common procedure in equine dentistry in the UK)
this needed to remain as an integral part of the joining process.
The new process will be available in detail on this website shortly.
Although it was felt that dentists wishing to join the association
might find this process more involved than with other associations,
they will be demonstrating to the horse owning public that they are
keen to ensure that dentistry standards are continually improved.
- Election of WWAED
Representatives
Two positions were in front of the members for
election, President and Vice President. Nat Heal was elected into
the Vice President position and Steve Goode was elected into the
Presidents position.
